Did you know that there are numerous movies in Hollywood which portray life experiences through the game of Blackjack? Among them, a few movies show the player winning a handsome payout and while the others reflect the realistic aspects of the game. The movie 21 was released in the year 2008 and is one of the most famous Blackjack movies which is based on a true story. The storyline of the movie revolves around a set of students who became experts at counting cards and beating the casinos. Being a Maths major Ben Campbell is accepted to Harvard Medical School but cannot afford the $300,000 fee. Back at MIT his professor, Micky Rosa, challenges him with the Monty Hall problem in a non-linear equation class, which he proceeds to solve. Rosa then notices Ben’s consistently high grades and he invites him to join his Blackjack team with fellow students Choi, Fisher, Jill and Kianna.
Further, Ben finally joins the team which is headed by Rosa. The team is then split under two groups namely the Spotters and the Big Players. The Spotters job is to play the minimum bet and keep track of the count, the Big Players are those who place large bets whenever the count is favourable.
This movie was no doubt a huge success as it encouraged a great number of players to try and explore Blackjack in the casinos operating worldwide.
Stacy’s Knight
Stacy’s Knight is not as popular as 21, nevertheless, it is one of the well-liked movies by those who enjoy playing Blackjack. The movie focuses on the story of Stacy, a shy woman, who discovers she has a real talent for the game of Blackjack. She meets a man named Will, who is also a skilled player and teaches her about card counting. After a successful session at a casino in Reno, Nevada, the casino assigns her a cheating dealer to try to stop her. However, the casino ends up killing Will and Stacy decides that she must take revenge.
Rain Man
Released in the year 1988, Rain Man features Tom Cruise who plays the role of a man named Charlie in the movie. The movie begins with a very jealous Charlie who happens to discover that his recently deceased dad had left him nothing except for a car and a bed of roses. Charlie becomes infuriated when he realises that his dad has left him only with $3 million fortune to someone that he doesn’t even know and so, he feels determined to find out more about the mystery person. Eventually, Charlie ends up in Las Vegas and tries to exploit at the Blackjack table. The casino having known Charlie’s intention asks him to leave the casino.
Holy Rollers
Holy Rollers is a true story documentary which involves a team of devout Christians who started playing Blackjack and received fascinating payouts.
The movie begins with a couple of young Americans, Colin Jones and Ben Crawford, who grew up in religious homes and meet at a youth gathering to discuss Christian values. The friendship between them gradually develops and led to discussions about money and the acceptance of gambling and further develop a full-fledged Blackjack team that gets them huge payouts in the gaming process. This movie is truly a must-watch as it is sure to motivate you in exploring and discovering the game of Blackjack.
The Hangover
The Hangover was immensely successful on its release. The movie depicts the story of four best friends, namely, Doug Billings, Phil Wenneck, Stuart Price and Alan Garner, who head to Doug’s bachelor party in Las Vegas. Although the movie is not really about Blackjack, it is a brilliant comedy set in Vegas with an exciting Blackjack scene. It is definitely worth watching.
